The top resume is the original copy of my resume, followed by the one catered toward sales positions and then the last one is catered towards finance positions. The sales copy has a focus towards recruiters in the sales field, the exact prompt I put into ChatGPT is “analyze this resume and help me alternate this version to be more catered to recruiters from the finance field of work. Make the resume more catered to what they are looking for by highlighting the corresponding skills from the work experience. Do the same thing again, however make it more catered to those from the sales field, again highlighting the kinds of skills a recruiter might be looking for.” (this created both at the same time). The main things that had changed in the sales resume from the original, it rewrote experience descriptions using performance and relationship-driven verbs (e.g., “exceeded goals,” “built long-term relationships,” “upselling strategies”). It also highlighted performance metrics and teamwork, qualities directly measurable and valued in sales. This also ties into the changes made to focus more on communication, relationship-building and goal achievement to mirror the competencies sales recruiters prioritize. As an overall change to the sales resume, it’s made to sound more proactive, confident, and more centered toward customers. Now in the other Finance resume, it changed many other things, like the shift in language usage. In the sales resume it is meant to sound more analytical and precision-orientated. It also highlights money and numerical accuracy, transaction handling, and financial process oversight to reflect competencies relevant to finance roles. The skills at the bottom were adjusted and included skills like “analytical thinking,” “financial transaction history,” and “data-driven decision-making.” With these overall changes to this resume, it adjusted wording to reflect a detail oriented and responsible persona.
From class and making these AI-Enhanced versions, I’ve learned that using an AI can be very useful and it doesn’t have to be frowned upon when used. Obviously using it dishonestly and using it to do your work for you is not okay, however there are ways you can use it to help you do you work, like prompt engineering. Using prompt engineering is very important when using AI like a tool. Giving AI more direct and straightforward directions can help reduce the amount of tries it takes for you to be able to get the result you desire. I’ve learned that prompt engineering is very important when trying to tailor content for a certain audience. For this part of the project, I used prompt engineering to change the content to make it more tailored towards a recruiter in the sales field as well as one in the finance field.
